Handicapping

 

GENERAL

The NYLGC is a golf club registered with the Metropolitan Golf Association (Metropolitan Golf Association).  This provides the NYLGC the ability to give each golfer an official golf handicap index which will be used to calculate his or her handicap in the NYLGC tournaments.  Each golfer can also use this handicap index in any other golf events.

The two most important things to remember about keeping your handicap index current and accurate are:  (1) record your scores; and (2) record your scores accurately.  This means that you must apply equitable score control (ESC) to your actual scores.  Please look at the following FAQ which can help explain some of the golf handicapping rules better than me.
